Let’s take you through my day as a Creative Designer
It’s a Creative Designer work with me Monday blog style. I’ve done these on my Instagram Stories once in a while and decided that it was time to do one for the blog. I’m not a full-time online business owner, I have a full-time job working in Marketing for one of the largest companies in St.Vincent and work on my business part-time. Going full-time with your creative business is not for everyone and I’m honestly happy with my current set-up.
Date: March 1st
Location: St. Vincent
6 – 8 AM – Getting Ready & Commute
I set my alarm to go off at 5:45 AM and I get out of bed around 6 AM. I prepare breakfast and get ready for the workday. I do all my ironing for my work clothes on Sundays so I don’t have to worry about doing this each morning. I don’t wear much if any makeup at all so it doesn’t take me long to get ready. By 7 AM I’m ready to hit the road and head to the office. I have a pretty short commute as I only live about 15 minutes away from my job.
I get to work about 45 mins before 8 (when work actually starts). I do this so that I can get a good parking spot, the later I am the further away from the office building I will have to park. During my time until 8 AM I will check my online business email and respond to anyone at this time. If I’m writing a blog post I will try to get some writing in at this time also.
8 AM – 1 PM
This morning, we had to prepare for a press conference that we were having at our Conference. We partner with our local Rotary Club chapter to give funds to those who were still affected by the Volcanic Eruption from 2021. The press conference started at 10 AM but before we had to make a few changes to the vouchers that were printed and organize the room for visitors.
1 PM – 2 PM – Lunch Break
This is the time I usually take lunch it varies from day to day deepening on the workload I have. Typically I bring lunch to work Mons & Tuesdays and buy during the other days. If I don’t have any errands to run during my lunch break I will usually spend this time going through my social media accounts for my business or finish writing out some sort of content for my business.
2 PM – 4 PM
Because we had such a busy morning we had a very slow afternoon. We headed out to one of our other departments outside of town to get some footage of a new store we will be opening soon and get some shots of one of our warehouses. These were all going to be used in video ads that I usually create for social media.
4 PM – 5 PM – Home Time
My commute home is about 20-30 minutes long depending on what time I leave the office. On average I’m usually home before 5 PM. 3 days during the week I will do a quick 30-40 minute exercise at home. I use to go to the gym, but due to COVID, I’ve decided to do my exercises at home for now.
6 PM – 9 PM – Online Business Time
Once I’m home I will take a break to shower and prepare dinner before I get started on business work. I first go through my to-do list and see what I was able to complete during the day. If I’m working on client work I will go until about 10/11 but usually, I close off at 9 PM. At this time I also spend time going through social media, especially Instagram stories.
Thank you for joining me on the recap of my day. I will try my best to do more of this on my Instagram Stories it is quite fun doing stuff like this. You can follow me over on Instagram at @hellonextbrand to see when I do post.
